One of the most important things you can do to start your morning off on the right foot is to spend time in meditation. A meditation practice helps you focus and allows you to begin your day from a place that is calm and centered. Meditating in the morning also allows you to set an intention for your day, which gives you a focus that will shape and direct your day as it moves along.

Unfortunately, many people are intimidated by the idea of meditation. If you have always been curious about beginning a practice, or maybe have even tried a few times in the past, there is no better day to start than today.

Meditation doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, it’s one of the simplest things you can do.

Follow these three steps and begin mastering you mornings and your days.

Pick a Time and a Spot. Choose to meditate at the same time in the same spot every morning, or at least do your best to try. Showing up to the same spot helps tell your mind that it’s time to meditate. And meditating at the same time each morning helps to make it part of your routine – this way it doesn’t get skipped.

Start Simple. Sometimes the simplest meditations are the best. Find a meditation you enjoy, like counting your breaths up to ten and then starting over or using a favorite mantra. Don’t change your meditation practice every day and don’t feel like you need to make it complicated.

Be Consistent, Not Perfect. There is no such thing as a perfect meditation. Your mind is bound to wander and there will be moments when you feel like giving up. The best meditation students are those that are consistent – the ones that show up every morning no matter what and keep coming back. These are the individuals that get the most out of a meditation practice.
